The mysterious history of the flatbrim cap
Although no one knows for sure, the story goes that flatbrim caps arose in the 1990s around Oakland, California. At the time, most baseball caps were sold with a brim that was pre-curved in the factory, but some brands packed and shipped their hats with flatbrims for the buyer to shape as they preferred.
Coincidentally, in the early 1990s, new styles of men’s sunglasses were on trend. Many celebrities of the time were photographed wearing these trendy sunglasses just about everywhere - even nighttime awards shows. This led to a problem: a strongly curved brim would interfere with the glasses frames. As such, many people who were copying the glasses trend simply opted to leave their hats “unbent”. This, in turn, developed into its own “look”: one that soon became associated with hip-hop and street culture.
After a while, the “cool sunglasses everywhere” trend died down, but the flatbrim cap trend it spawned did not go away. Indeed, in the mysterious manner of fashion trends throughout history, the style eventually went mainstream worldwide.

How do I clean my Aussie Snapback Flatbrim Hat
All Aussie snapback baseball caps are “DISHWASHER SAFE” as indicated on the inner care label
- Simply place your baseball hat on the top shelf of the dishwasher
- Add normal dishwasher detergent.
- Switch to normal was cycle and press start
- Remove and let the item dry normally do not use a hair dryer

You can simply email us (BELOW) with your logos/artwork in AI, EPS, PNG or JPG file format along with the preferred profile (high or low) the type of trucker hat and the colour preference of the items.
Can I ask about shipping and turnaround times?
40 - 45 days production time. However, this timeframe can vary due to events outside our control. Shipping: 5-10 days depending on your postcode.
Can I see sample artwork? FOC
Sure, give us a day or so and we will return an email with a copy of your artwork design showing from all angles, how it will look and a full set of costs and timeline from commencement of production, sampling to completion of production. Yes we do all of this for you FREE OF CHARGE.
Can I see a physical sample? FOC
We do not send out a physical sample of your design. However, after full payment we will go to production and then make a sample of your item(s) (around 12 days to make) and we will email you photo images from every angle of your item for approval, once we have your approval we then will go to bulk production for you.
If you need a physical sample of the Aussie Trucker Hats to try for fit and to see for quality we maybe able send you a copy of a previous clients trucker hat FOC via Express Post in an overnight satchel. International clients you may have to help pay shipping costs for this service.
What is the difference between a flatbrim cap and a normal baseball cap?
It’s all in the brim or “bill”. The flatbrim cap has a totally straight brim that sticks out perpendicular to the forehead. A standard baseball cap has a curved brim that is bent to give the desired fit, this often means the brim also angles down from the forehead somewhat.
What is the thing on top of a flatbrim hat?
Aussie Flat Brim Hats or Aussie Custom Snapback Flatbrim Caps have a fabric-covered button placed on top of the hat to cover and reinforce the spot where the stitching for the cloth panels of the hat come together. Not all caps have this button, but it is a customary inclusion and another design element for you to experiment with.
